What kind of teacher I want to be
I believe the best education is a well-rounded one. Intellectual information and life skills are equally important. Students should be able to think analytically and critically. Social issues as well as arts and humanities also help to create a more rounded curriculum. These skills and knowledge should be integrated into the curriculum without losing focus on common core subjects. When it comes to social issues, teachers should give students the tools to assess and form their own opinions. I also believe that students should be treated as individuals with unique learning needs and styles. As a teacher, I will try to differentiate my instruction, content, and assessment strategies to reach each student and raise them to their highest personal potentials. School should also be intriguing and fun for students. Integrating technology and inquiry into the classroom will get the students more interested and create active learners. I will also try to make school work authentic to the students so that they feel their learning has a direct purpose. My lessons will be organized and detailed, but open for class input and possible changes. Flexibility is an important trait for a teacher as well as knowing when to get the class back on track. Lastly, I want to create a positive learning environment for my students in which they always feel comfortable, valued, and cognitively challenged.
